Sarnia District Labour Council 

The Sarnia and District Labour Council is an organization of 35 union local affiliates and a membership total of 6,800 union brothers and sisters.  Its members include workers in the petrochemical industry, auto workers, building and construction trades, office workers, public service employees, hospital workers, communication workers, locomotive engineers, retail clerks and more.

The Labour Council's purpose is to:

  • Promote the interests of its affiliates and generally to advance the economic and social welfare of workers.
  • Promote the cause of peace and freedom in the world and to assist and cooperate with free and democratic labour movements throughout the world.
  • Aid and encourage the sale and use of union made goods and union services through the use of union labels and other symbols.
  • Safeguard the democratic character of the labour movement and to observe and respect the autonomy of affiliate unions.
