 Children's Programs 

There are a number of children's programs available in Sarnia-Lambton to assist families in finding appropriate care for their children.

Best Start
A community initiative that brings local government, school boards, and community agencies serving families with children zero to six years of age together with parents to plan and deliver enhanced early learning and child care services. 

Best Start Hubs
Hubs are located primarily in elementary schools and offer services based on local needs and available resources.  Hubs offer a range of programs to enhance the healthy early development of children.

The Early Learning Framework (ELF) 
This programs helps prepare young children for school by developing five age-appropriate school readiness skills:  physical, emotional, social, language and cognitive development. The program is open from September to June.

Wrap Spaces and Before and After School Care
These are available at a variety of schools throughout Lambton County.  Wrap spaces allow children to continue learning in their school environment by attending a child care program on the days Junior and Senior Kindergarten students are not scheduled to be in school.

Ontario Early Years Centres (OEYC)
OEYC's are locations parents and caregivers can take part with their children in a range of programs and activities. Professionals are available to provide information about programs and services available for young children. In Sarnia-Lambton, many Ontario Early Years Centres can be accessed by visiting your local Best Start Hub.  

Healthy Babies, Healthy Children Program
A provincially-funded program for parents of children aged zero to six years of age. The program is free and is designed to help all babies and new parents get the best possible start in life. It is also a source of advice and support for parents and will help families to find the right support services in the community.

Ontario's Preschool Speech and Language Program
Funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services this program targets the prevention, early identification and treatment of speech and language problems in children from infancy until the time the child starts school.  In Lambton County, services can be accessed through Soundstart (Pathways) and your local Best Start Hub
